About Handel's Messiah:
Georg Friedrich Handel (1685-1759) was a godly man. His work as a music composer marks the pinnacle of the Baroque era. It was at a low point in his life when a friend gave him a text for a new oratorio comprised entirely of Scripture – the story of Jesus, the Messiah. Handel was inspired – in fact, he locked himself in his room for 21 days and (without much food or sleeping) did not come out until the new work was finished. History tells us that, at times, his friends heard him from behind the door shouting, “Slow down, Lord, I can’t write that fast!”
